“Apart from having your Nana listen to you giving me a blow-job and having half a glass sticking out of my knee,” Aiden said gruffly. “I’m fine.”
“Nana listened to you what?”
Finally the owner of the voice stepped around Finn and Aiden looked up into ice blue eyes, in a ruggedly handsome face, topped off with short, artfully spiked white blond hair.
“I’m sorry, and you are?” Aiden said frostily and immediately wanted to kick himself. It wasn’t this guy’s fault he was a complete idiot. From the man’s reassuring smile, he hadn’t taken offence.
“I’m Steve,” he replied, holding out his hand. “Good to meet you.”
Aiden huffed out a feeble laugh and shook the hand held out to him. The door opened and another man he’d not met came in carrying a bag, which he handed to Steve, who accepted it with a grateful smile. “Are you a doctor?”
“Yep,” Steve replied. “Finn, can you get me a bowl of water?” Finn headed into the bathroom to do as he was told. “Aiden, this is Darryl, my better half,” he added by way of introduction and the man who’d brought Steve’s bag lifted his hand in greeting. Aiden watched as Steve opened the bag and took out a pair of latex gloves, which he quickly pulled on, then turned his attention to Aiden’s knee.
Aiden cleared his throat and Steve paused, looking up at him in question. “Please tell me you’re not a proctologist.”
Steve burst out laughing, as did Darryl. “It’s okay, I’m an ER resident. Your ass is perfectly safe with me.”
“That’s what you said to me,” Darryl chuckled.
“Me too,” said Finn, carrying a bowl of water in from the bathroom and putting it on the nightstand within Steve’s reach.
Aiden looked up at Finn, who gave a casual shrug. “Steve was my first boyfriend,” he said in explanation.
“Don’t worry,” Steve said reassuringly. “I dumped him.”
“You wish,” Finn scoffed, crawling gently onto the bed to hold Aiden’s hand in his.
“Okay, Aiden, I’m going to take the glass out now. Ready?”
Aiden nodded at Steve, preparing himself, but unable to stop the grunt pushing itself through his lips when it was removed. “Fuck!”
“Sorry,” Steve said softly, gently cleaning the wound with warm water and gauze. “Well, you’re remarkably lucky. A couple of centimeters longer and that shard would have caught a tendon.”
“Is he going to need stitches?” Finn asked, concerned.
“Nope,” Steve replied, and asked Darryl to get him some steri-strips from his bag, then opened the packet. “It’s not as bad as it looked. Some strips will close it nicely, but I’ll put an extra dressing over it to keep it clean.”
“Thank God you were here.” Finn gave a relieved sigh.
“Yes, thank you,” Aiden said, lowering his gaze. “I feel like such an idiot.”
“Pfft,” Steve huffed through his teeth as he dressed Aiden’s knee. “You’re not the first person to fall on their ass at a Thomas barbecue, and you sure as hell won’t be the last.” He paused and a smile tugged at his lips. “Although I don’t think Nana’s caught the whole show before.”
Aiden covered his face with a pillow and groaned loudly. “I think I’m going to stay in here until it’s time to leave on Monday.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Finn drawled, pulling the pillow away. “You think you’re the first one Nana’s busted? Believe me, you’re not. The stories I could tell… like the time I forgot to lock the bathroom door and she walked in on me with a copy of GQ in one hand and my dick in the other. Or when AJ and his high school sweetheart, Michelle, decided to go for a skinny dip in the pool, and Nana scared the crap out of them with Pop’s rifle.” Finn pointed at Steve. “She’s even caught Steve!” he exclaimed. “Tell him about the time you climbed out of my window.”
“Oh, God, no.” Steve shook his head, a flush high on his cheeks.
“Dude,” Aiden admonished, jolting as Steve filled a syringe with painkiller and stabbed him in the thigh with it. “You can’t leave me hanging.”
Steve sighed heavily and popped the syringe and other debris into a little plastic pot before tossing it into his bag. “Alright, but it doesn’t leave this room.” He pointed at each of them in turn. “That woman has a sixth sense for the down ‘n dirty, I swear it. She caught me climbing out of Finn’s bedroom window at three o’clock in the morning with my pants open.” He glanced over at Finn and rolled his eyes as Finn began to giggle. “My belt loop got caught on the wisteria and I couldn’t get free, and I was kind of too far away from the window to climb back in, but too far away from the ground to jump. I was stuck there for about twenty minutes. Asshole here had gone to sleep, so I didn’t have a clue how I was going to get down. Then this ladder appears against the wall beside me, and I look down to see Nana holding the bottom, tears streaming down her face as she laughed her ass off.”
“See,” Finn said amiably, stroking Aiden’s hair off his forehead. “It’s not just you. My family embarrasses and humiliates everyone, they don’t discriminate.”
“I feel so much better,” Aiden drawled sarcastically. “I stand by my original plan to stay in here until Monday.” He huffed out a laugh, not quite being able to get the image of Finn’s Nana carrying a large ladder to help Steve climb out of her grandson’s bedroom in the dead of night.
Steven shook his head and patted Aiden’s hand. “Listen, I’m gonna tell you a little secret that—if you ever get grilled under a lamp—you did not get from me, capiche?”
Aiden, Finn and Darryl leaned in closer, all three of them nodding.
Steve looked over his left and right shoulder as if to check no one else had come into the room. He too leaned in a little closer and said, “If Nana gives you any trouble, all you have to do is mention Finn is going to take you down to the old swimming hole, over by Jackson’s farm.”
“Swimming hole?” Aiden echoed.
“Yes,” Steve said lowering his voice even more. “Tell her you’ve heard this time of year is really good for skinny-dipping.”
“The one we used to swim in as kids?” Finn asked, his brow furrowed in confusion. “What the hell has the swimming hole got to do with anything?”
“Let’s just say, it’s not the first time I’ve put a dressing on a Thomas this month.” Steve stood up. “Nana came into the ER late one night with a gash in her cheek—left lower I believe. Supposedly she’d slipped in the kitchen while carrying a plate and landed on the broken china.” He winked slowly. “Thing is, the slivers of china I pulled out of that wound looked a lot like willow branch that grows all round the swimming hole over at Jackson’s farm.”
“No!” Finn’s mouth dropped open. “Nana? Skinny dipping in the swimming hole?” Aiden grinned as Finn collapsed in a heap again, his arms wrapped around his sides. “That crafty ole—”
“That’s not even the best part.” Steve grinned down at a chuckling Aiden. “Mr. Prescott from across the street came into the ER about an hour later. Apparently he’d fallen on the same plate.”
“Nana and Mr. Prescott?” Finn was aghast.
“Yep,” Steve replied. “But you didn’t hear it from me.” He and held out his hand to Aiden to help him up. “So, what do you think? Ready to face the firing squad, now that you have a little ammunition of your own?”
Looking at Finn, who had finally managed to control himself, Aiden wondered, not for the first time, how he’d been lucky enough to find this man. All of the reasons why he hadn’t been looking forward to this weekend had made such sense to him when he first arrived. But these people had taken him and his daughter into their home and treated them like their own from the very moment they walked through the door.
Okay, so he’d rather not have seen quite so much of AJ, or indeed have AJ see quite so much of him, and he could probably have done without having a blow job in the same room as an aged relative taking a siesta. Not to mention the flailing acrobatics and blood-stained decking. Although
meeting Finn’s ex had gone a hell of a lot better than Finn’s meeting with Zach. But if he’d discovered anything over the last two days, it was how it felt to be part of a real family.
Knowing that and with Finn at his side, Aiden was ready for anything.

Finn gripped Aiden’s hand tighter as he pulled him across the lamp-lit concourse toward the ghost train. He couldn’t believe Aiden had agreed to this—and on a school night, too. Although he had a feeling the ambience in the restaurant and the constant top-up of their wine glasses had had more than a little to do with his eager compliance. If Finn was honest, he’d only been half-serious, but now they were here, excitement fizzed through his blood like bubbles in a glass of champagne.
“This is insane.”
Finn threw Aiden a grin over his shoulder and took the steps up to the ride two at a time, with Aiden scrambling behind him. Slipping Luther, the head security guard, a fifty to turn a blind eye to their out of hours visit had been the easy part—getting Aiden to the ride without waking the animals and half the neighborhood was a little more difficult. As if to prove his point, Aiden goosed him, almost sending him into one of the train cars head first. “Slow down, cowboy! Sheesh,” Finn grumbled, his smile denying the complaint.
“Where are we going?” Aiden asked, tugging on Finn’s hand.
“Inside,” Finn replied, leading Aiden into the darkness.
“But it’s dark in there.”
“That’s the idea.” Finn chuckled at the look on Aiden’s face as he pushed through the heavy black velvet curtain and into the eerie green glow behind it. “You’re not scared are you?” he teased. “I promise I’ll keep a tight hold on your hand.”
“I’d rather you kept a tight hold on my dick,” Aiden said huskily, yanking Finn to a stop and then pulling him down into a demanding kiss.
Finn moaned into the kiss as Aiden drew Finn’s tongue into the wet heat of his mouth and sucked greedily on the tip. Palming Aiden’s ass roughly in return, Finn ground his hips against the hardening length of Aiden’s dick, wanting to be closer, needing the delicious friction that would lead to release. He dragged his lips away from Aiden’s and panted harshly. “Wait, wait, there’s a bed in here somewhere.”
“A bed?”
“Yeah,” Finn clutched Aiden’s hand again and headed further into the ride.
“In here?”
Ignoring Aiden’s incredulity, Finn mentally fist-pumped the air as they rounded the corner and there it was, a large bed set into a recess, lit by a red lamp and covered by dark red velvet fabric. He turned on his heel and grabbed at Aiden’s clothes impatiently, dispensing with the buttons on the blue shirt he wore and yanking it over Aiden’s head. “You are wearing far too many clothes for my liking,” he rasped, the words a whispered echo off the tin walls. “I want you naked and on your back now.” Finn licked his lips at the darkening of Aiden’s green eyes in the low light. “Stay on the right side of the bed.”
“Why?”
“Aiden, honey, you can keep asking me pointless questions, or you can take your pants off so I can suck your dick—your choice.” Finn grinned as Aiden practically ripped his belt open and shoved his pants down his legs, nodding at Finn to do the same. Not that Finn needed any encouragement. He had no intention of staying clothed for very long.
Finn almost whimpered at the sight of Aiden crawling on all floors up the bed, his ass firm and just fucking edible, his hips swinging from side to side as he slid up the bed on his knees. Before Aiden could flip over onto his back, Finn had stripped off his clothes and followed him onto the bed, grabbing his hips. He gazed at Aiden’s ass almost reverently and stroked his fingers over the dip at the small of Aiden’s back, and traced the curve of his cheek.
“God, you are so fucking sexy,” he murmured, bending to kiss the soft flesh. “I can’t get enough of you. No matter how many times I touch you, taste you, feel you move inside me, it’s never quite enough. I always want more.” He trailed the tip of his tongue over the path his fingers had taken and nipped at Aiden’s skin with his teeth. They’d never rimmed each other before, but right now he needed to feel Aiden’s excitement pulse against his tongue, to taste and tease until Aiden couldn’t stand it a minute longer, and Finn’s cock hardened impossibly further at the mere thought. All he could do was mentally cross his fingers and hope he didn’t get a foot to the face!
At the first touch of his tongue, Aiden tensed all over and grunted out, “What are you—holy shit.”
Finn grinned against Aiden’s flesh as he circled Aiden’s hole before setting up a punishing rhythm of alternating licking, lapping and sucking on his sensitive opening. Aiden’s scent filled his nostrils. The heady mix of musk, sweat and all man almost made him dizzy and Finn groaned low in his throat in answer to Aiden’s breathy whimpering. Finn couldn’t believe it. He hadn’t even known there had been a hole in his heart until Aiden had filled it with his smile, his sensitivity, his unconditional love, and now he couldn’t imagine a moment of his life without him in it.
“Baby, that’s so good.” Aiden pushed back against Finn’s searching tongue, the rolling of his hips becoming wilder and less focused.
Finn swiped his tongue over Aiden’s hole a final time then slid up the bed in one movement, nestling his rock hard dick between Aiden’s cheeks. “I love you,” he murmured, pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses across the tanned skin of Aiden’s back, thrusting against the wet puckered skin he had lavished with his tongue.
“I love you. Don’t stop, baby. Make me come.”
The desperate note in Aiden’s voice was almost his undoing but, after a quick mental rendition of his seven times table he managed to keep his orgasm at bay—momentarily. Finn wrapped his arm around Aiden’s hip and grasped his cock, loving the feel of the hard, yet at the same time so soft, shaft in his hand. Trying to keep in time with the rolling of his own hips between Aiden’s cheeks, he jacked Aiden in long firm strokes. “You like that?” Finn said gruffly, sweat dripping from his forehead in between Aiden’s shoulder blades. “My hand on you, my dick on your hole?”
“Yes, yes… fuck yes,” Aiden whimpered, pushing back harder, urging Finn on.
Finn swiped his thumb over the head of Aiden’s dick and moments later Aiden’s fingers joined his and they brought him off together, their cries echoing off the walls of the ride. Another thrust and Finn was coming in hot spurts, spattering Aiden’s lower back, streams of white easing the way as his hips lost all rhythm. Aiden followed him a few strokes later, spilling onto their joined hands, grunting his release into the darkness.
Aiden flipped over onto his back, grimacing at the mess he’d just lain on but pulling Finn down on top of him anyway. “That was fucking intense.”
Finn raised himself on his elbows and smiled down into Aiden’s green eyes. “Uh-huh.” He chuckled at Aiden’s raised eyebrow.
“Ah, monosyllabic, post-orgasmic Finn Thomas. I know him so well.”
“I can’t help it if I need more than a nanosecond for my brain to fill with enough blood to kick start the power of speech.” Finn kissed along the underside of Aiden’s jaw.
“You seemed to manage alright during,” Aiden replied, threading his fingers through Finn’s hair, his chest still heaving from exertion as he lowered his voice to do a passable imitation of Finn. “‘Do you like that? My dick on your hole?’”
“Shut up.” Finn nipped at Aiden’s throat. “I didn’t hear you complaining.”
“You’re right,” Aiden replied, grabbing Finn’s hair and pulling him away from his throat to bring their mouths together in a lazy, exploratory kiss. “But Patti will if we’re late. She’s got an early start tomorrow.”
Finn objected when Aiden pushed at his shoulders and the scuffle that followed resulted on him ending up on his back on the other side of the round bed, with Aiden on top of him. Which was when the bed began to move.
“What the fu—?” Aiden was cut off in mid-sentence as the bed parted in the
middle and he clutched at Finn in an effort not to fall into the opening.
Both of them were startled at the loud organ music spouting from the speakers high up on the wall, and Finn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when a mannequin dressed as a vampire in full garb, rose on a platform beside them. The decision was taken away from him when Aiden stared down at him, a question in his gaze, sending Finn into gales of laughter.
“Is this your subtle way of suggesting a threesome?”
*
“Come with me?”
Finn was on his way downstairs to the kitchen when he heard Patti’s voice outside the half-open front door. After they’d left the park last night, giggling like teenagers every time they looked at each other, Finn had spent the night. They’d already spoken to Kaylee after discussing it with Patti, and explained that they were a couple and that, if it was okay with her, sometimes Finn would stay over. She had nodded sagely as she took in the information and then, with the innocent logic of a child, asked if that meant she would get two stories instead of one?
“Patti—” Aiden sounded agitated and Finn frowned. He hadn’t intended to eavesdrop, but he’d not heard that note in his lover’s voice before and was curious as to the reason.
“Now don’t get all riled up. It ain’t like I don’t know what you’re gonna say.”
“Then why do you ask me every, single, time?”
“Because I know you. I know how much you miss her.”
“Oh, come on. Don’t try that line on me. How many times in the last five years has she contacted me? Do you ask her the same question?”
“Yes, I do, but she’s as stubborn as you are, so I get the same goddamn answer.”
“Then maybe it’s time you stopped asking… both of us.”
“Can you look me in the eye and tell me you don’t long to see her? Especially today of all days?”
“She made her choice.”
